I probably only come up to his navel and if he's 17 he may still get taller. I always wanted to be tall but I'm okay with my height now Grin

I'm into a range of music but mostly listen to metal, I find classical to be really relaxing.
My favourite band at the moment is Apocalyptica, they are a Finnish metal band who only use cellos and a drum kit, absolutely amazing!

I like almost every kind of music. From Jack Johnson to the Rat Pack, from Johnny Cash to Staind. Music plays a very important part in my life although I can't sing or play an instrument myself.

Someone just HAD to bring up MUSIC - the old thorn in my side and reminder of my weirdness. It REALLY hit home today. I was looking at a slide show of the Mekong River Gorge in Yunnan, China just today on YouTube. And the poster put this slide show to some sort of Chinese music. But Mr Wierdo here (aka Robbed) just HAD to turn the volume down on YouTube and watch the slide show to Double Dutch Bus. Hell, if I tried hard enough, maybe I could even see that big, funky, purple, double-decker bus coming down the narrow streets in some of those Chinese villages, with Popeye singing at the wheel (am I the only one who thinks Frankie Smith sounds like Popeye?). And all the people on the streets were dancing along. Sad, isn't it? Although I can even have fun with this for a while, I so often end up hating myself for being so perverted as to think of stuff THIS twisted.

I just can't believe I actually came here and posted THIS! I guess my anxiety was THAT much worse at that time that I just didn't care what I posted. Normally, thoughts like this are my deepest, darkest secrets - my skeletons in the closet. I just can't believe that I would tell ANYONE that I had thoughts like this. And the worst thing about this? It REALLY happened! Not Popeye's trip to the Kham region of China/Tibet, of course. But my thoughts about it DID!

Hey Robbed, any post is a good post imo because that's where we are at the time we post it. I think it is great that you had it here to come back and refer to and grow from Grin
I also totally get the sounds like Popeye part in the original post.
Take care!

I had kind of a weird music experience yesterday. Anyway, yesterday I climbed Mount Lassen here in Northern California. It is a 10457ft volcano with a (relatively) easy 2.5 mile trail going to the top. And views are GREAT from up there. Anyway, as I was coming down, I noticed that I had an my mp3 player on me. And I found myself listening to OLD SCHOOL HIP HOP while hiking down the mountain. This was really something! I think that maybe ALOT of it was the whole idea that old school hip hop and hiking in the mountains just supposedly DON'T go together. But the whole idea that I was doing something that I wasn't supposed to do (along with that old school beat) REALLY made for an interesting thing. All in all, it's just funny how well 'White Lines', 'Perfect Beat', and 'Planet Rock' goes with five digit altitudes!

Actually, although this IS a picture of the trail to the summit of Lassen Peak, this picture is actually from 2006 (and not last Wednesday). I currently don't have any pictures of my most recent hike posted on webshots, so I used a shot from a hike I made up there back in 2006. The only difference between then and now (besides the fact that I didn't have anxiety disorder back then) is the snow. These last couple of years have been REALLY dry here in California, and Lassen Peak is nearly completely devoid of snow.

As for being jealous of the hike, I would think that you have PLENTY of mountain hiking in British Columbia.

It is still an amazing picture. Doesn't matter when it was taken. I guess the snow on the ground in the picture is a bit of a clue that it wasn't taken last wednesday. winkface

You do have a point about there being lots of mountains in BC. However, I live in the plateau area of BC, so we do have some mountains, but nothing spectacular.

Actually, the picture shown was taken on August 15, 2006. So in theory, there should be close to as much snow on the mountain now as there was in that picture. After all, it is a 10000+ft mountain. And even here in California, this is good enough for a decent amount of snow to remain on the ground through the summer (the Lassen Peak Trail is only open for 3-4 months a year on average). But, as I said, we are in the middle of a drought.
