Does anyone else suffer from this please?

i have some ideas fixed in my head which have no proof but seem totally logical to me and it can't get them out. someone has said that they seem like a psychosis.

You may not necessarily have psychotic depression. What you describe could also be simple, obsessive thoughts. Obsessive thoughts are actually a quite normal part of most anxiety disorders and some depression, and are MUCH less serious of a problem than psychosis.

Kathy,

I have these obsessive thoughts too. Maybe because I also have obsessive-compulsive behavior--or so my doctors tell me. Whenever I feel really anxious, I always think I might go crazy and it gives me such great fear.

Robbed,

Can anxiety lead to madness? I know manic depression, if untreated, can. I've been told that you can't really worry yourself crazy. It is not possible. Fear of losing it is just a thought, a symptom anxiety.

Manic depression (now called bipolar disporder) is in a whole different league from anxiety disorder. Unlike anxiety, bipolar disorder is a true psychiatric disorder in the sense that its origins are biological rather than cognitive. You can recover from anxiety, but not bipolar disorder. So I would not even start to compare the two. But to answer your question, anxiety CANNOT lead to madness. It will only make you AFRAID that it will.

Hi and thank you for your replies.

i have really scary thoughts.

afraid of suicide - i was never suicidal but this pops in now and again.
i feel i have had a near death experience and i now know the workings of the human body? i feel i know that illnesses are caused by our stress levels, hard to explain but no one else seems to have had these kinds of thoughts. i feel that sore throats are caused by us being stressed, that menopause is caused by us being stressed, that all illnesses are caused by our levels of anxiety over a period of time.
i also fear dying, i wonder if your brain goes on living.

these are not normal thoughts i don't think. scared and feeling very alone and desperate. scared to live and scared to die
