Hello all, I am very new to this anxiety thing 48, year old male, I am in the construction industry and have always had to deal with jobs with tight deadlines and everything that goes along with that.
Lately that all changed, I am on a job with a very tight deadline and I started having insomnia because I could not turn my thoughts off at night, they were locked in a continuous loop playing all the minute details over and over, then when I would eventually drift off for a couple hours I would wake up and be instantly into the racing thoughts and a feeling like my heart was going to beat out of my chest.
Saturday morning I went to a local emergency room, I was thoroughly check out and eventually ended up talking to the on call psychiatrist, he explained GAD and said I have classic symptoms, he prescribed Cymbalta to see how it works and atenol for any times when I have need for immediate relief of intense anxiety.
I started the Cymbalta yesterday but dont really like the idea of atenol after reading about it's affects on the web.
From reading this forum I can see that this is probably going to be a long trip as the Cymbalta may take a month to work and it may not be the right med for me, does anybody around here have any experience with Cymbalta? |

Greetings, I am also a 48 year old male with generalized anxiety with some depression sprinkled in. I also experience ruminating thoughts and insomnia issues quite frequently. Greg
