I have no idea how to treat anxiety. I hope to talk here and safely get some things off of my chest and just go from here. Sad

Talking about it is a great way to start. I have found that just talking to someone about the intense feelings swirling inside helps. No, it does not cure them for me but it helps.

I woke up with my heart pounding so hard and I couldn't sleep. I was wide awake. My chest felt so tight. I realize that I have always had an anxiety disorder but it didn't manifest itself this way until I was 8 months pregnant which was about 6 months ago. I thought that it was going away until I saw my parents recently.

That happens to me some times and in the confusion of waking it is extra horrifying. I had a particularly bad episode one night after a nightmare. It was so intense I almost woke my husband to take me to the ER. I just layed there and took deep breaths to the count of four and waiting for my heart to calm down. Anxiety is really hard to deal with sometimes because it has a nasty way of convincing you it is right even when you know better.

I have found that reading what people have gone through helps me greatly because if I experience that symptom then I am better able to tell myself it is just a panic attack.

As hard as it can seem, remember to breath. Drink calming tea's (providing you have no medical reason's not to) and please don't be afraid to see a doctor. Sometimes there really is too much to handle on your own. That is why there has been cures sought since the dawn of time.

I know how you feel. I'm an anxiety survivor, but still a sufferer. I have found that self-hypnosis, relaxation breathing, meditation and yoga help. I also drink buckets of tea. However, during my last crisis I needed the help of medication and a good therapist. I'm going back into therapy soon to help with my latest anxiety escalation, too.

the idea of being an anxiety survivor never crossed my mind.
my anxiety will take over to the point i get paranoid or tell myself i'm being nuts.
i take xanax although it's not as effective as it has been.
switched to paxil from lexapro when i realized i was having suicidal thoughts every day. not sure if the paxil is helping and kind of thinking it's making my blood pressure go up.

i'm a newbie. i'm so fed up i decided to find others who might actually relate to my ever increasing hysteria.
