Because it has become habitual and automatic from MANY years of 'practice'. And you can't jus turn it off like a light switch. You basically have to unlearn what you have learned in terms of what to become panicky over. And this takes time - MUCH more time than you think or would like it to, unfortunately. |

| That's really true about anxious people; most of the time we stress without good reason. When I think about it, I've been stressed most of my life and nothing terrible really happened until now. I just stressed for nothing and social phobia made my life seemed so much more terrible that it really had been. |
