There is a new bill being pushed into action by house representatives to remove the benzodiazepine exclusion from the new Medicare Modernization Act of 2003 (MMA). Many people depend on these medications and to strip them of the opportunity to use them could lead to serious consequences. There's an estimated 1.7 million patients taking these medications under Medicaid, and withdrawing them from these medications is a difficult task with no guarantees that another medication could help them nearly as effectively.
