Some doctors in the UK are prescribing books for depressed patients. The term for this type of 'treatment' is bibliotherapy. It seems this new 'therapy' approach is the result of concerns about overuse of antidepressant medication prescriptions. Books such as "Overcoming Depression" and "The Feeling Good Handbook" are prescribed.
