While there isn't very much research supporting the use of multiple psychiatric medications, more kids are recieving more than one drug to treat their mental health or behavior problems.
The reasons multiple psychiatric medications are prescribed are typically for countering side effects of other medications, or treating more than one condition.
Unfortunately, there isn't much incentive for drug companies to do studies pairing their medications with other medications, so it's unlikely that there will be many studies on the effects of 'polypharmacy' (taking multiple psychiatric medications).
